NCCC Board to meet Thursday

SARANAC LAKE — The North Country Community College Board of Trustees will hold its regular monthly meeting at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, in the board room on the Saranac Lake campus, 23 Santanoni Avenue.

Agenda items are expected to include administrative reports, personnel, financial update.

An executive session of the Board of Trustees will be called at the beginning of the meeting.

The board is expected to reconvene in open session between noon and 12:30 p.m.

NCCC is sponsored by Essex and Franklin counties as a unit of the State University of New York. 

NACS Board to discuss collective negotiations

ELLENBURG — The Northern Adirondack Central School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, in the District Office conference room. 

An executive session associated with the performance history of particular employees and collective negotiations will take place about 6 p.m.

The board will reconvene for public session business at around 6:30 p.m. 

The girls soccer team will be recognized for their outstanding season. Agenda items will include personnel appointments. See the full agenda at www.nacs1.org. 

 The meeting is open to the public.

Public meeting set on Whiteface Highway rehab

WILMINGTON — The State Department of Transportation will host a public information meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, to discuss plans to reconstruct and rehabilitate Whiteface Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway.

The session will take place in the AuSable Room of the Whiteface Mountain Base Lodge, located at 5021 Route 86 in Wilmington. DOT officials will outline project plans, field questions and collect comments.

The improvement project will involve the full 8-mile length of the Whiteface Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway, also known as State Route 431, from Route 86 to the top of the mountain.

Construction is expected to begin in spring, while the tolled portion of the highway is still closed for the winter. 

Work is expected to continue through 2015.

The public also may submit written comments to Project Manager Geoffrey Wood at NYSDOT, Region 1 Design, 50 Wolf Road, Pod 2-3, Albany, NY 12232 or via email at geoffrey.wood@dot.ny.gov.
