Outdoor special available on Cyber Monday

ALBANY — The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Sites is discounting the cost of the $65 Empire Passport to $40 for a special Cyber Monday online promotion.

“One cannot put a value on all the benefits of spending time outdoors,” said State Park Commissioner Rose Harvey in a statement. “Whether you are purchasing the discounted Empire Passport for loved ones or for yourself, I am pleased that we are able to offer the affordable, yet indispensable gift, of health and fun this holiday season.”

The discount will strictly apply only to online orders placed between 12 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26. Purchases will be accepted online at www.nysparks.com during this time, but will not be accepted in person or by phone. Each customer will be able to purchase up to three passes at the reduced price.

The Empire Passport offers unlimited vehicle access to New York State Parks for all four seasons.

The 2013 Passport will be valid now through March 31, 2014, at upwards of 250 state-operated parks, recreation areas, boat launch sites, arboretums and forest preserve sites.

Ellenburg Depot Fire Department sponsoring Memory Tree

ELLENBURG DEPOT — The Ellenburg Depot Fire Department is sponsoring its annual Memory Tree, with bulbs available for purchase in memory of loved ones for $1 each.

The tree will be lit on Dec. 1 and remain through the Christmas season.

County Legislature set to meet

PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton County Legislature will meet Wednesday, Nov. 28 in the Legislative Chambers on the second floor of the Government Center, 137 Margaret Street in Plattsburgh at 7 p.m.

Among the resolutions to be acted upon are: Authorizing a temporary amendment to the operation, management and lease agreement with Casella Waste Systems; Authorizing New York State Office of Children and Family Services Grant Application and Acceptance; and Approving Appointments to the Clinton County STOP-DWI Advisory Board. Meetings are open to the public.
