Fire Department Auxiliary lighting Memory Tree

CHURUBUSCO — The Churubusco Fire Department Auxiliary will light a Memory Christmas Tree Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Churubusco Fire Station.

The tree will remain lit until Jan. 1.

Anyone wishing to remember a loved one may do so by donating $1 per bulb. Contact any auxiliary member or call Diane Lagree at 497-6647, Veronica Miller at 497-6728 or Jane Campbell Nichols at 497-6040.

Great Books Club holding meeting

for new members

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh Great Books Club is looking for new members.

An informational meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, in the Ianelli Room on the second floor of the library.

The club meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month from September to May at 6 p.m. at the Plattsburgh Public Library.

At each session, members discuss material previously chosen from the wide variety of Great Books Foundation offerings and select future reading material. A veteran member volunteers to lead the discussion. All participants learn from listening how others interpret material and are welcome to contribute to the exploration.

Pet Photo event on Dec. 1 benefits

Humane Society

PLATTSBURGH — The Adirondack Humane Society is having its annual Santa Pet Photo benefit from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Tails of the Adirondacks, 770 Route 3.

For $15, each participant will receive a photo of their pet with Santa and a CD of all the pictures the photographer takes. Proceeds benefit the shelter.

Kids to decorate cookies at Story Time

CHAZY— Chazy Public Library’s Story Time on Saturday, Dec. 1, will be held at the Chazy Orchard store from 10 to 11 a.m.

Kristin McAuliffe will read “Gingerbread Baby.” Children will decorate cookies with baker Cindy Dominy and Joann Trombly. If time permits, more stories will be read.
