New senior nutrition site opens in Dannemora
DANNEMORA — The Senior Citizens Council Nutrition Program has now opened a new nutrition site in Dannemora.
This site is located at the Dannemora Community Center, 40 Emmons St.
The hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays. Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m.

Caregivers support group to meet
PLATTSBURGH — Behavioral Health Services North will hold two discussion groups for unpaid caregivers.
The first is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at the United Way Building in Plattsburgh.
The second group is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the Emmaus Room at St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh.
There is also a telephone support group from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21.
The discussion groups are open to anyone providing unpaid care to an aging family member or friend.

Town of Plattsburgh offering kayak trip
PLATTSBURGH — The Town of Plattsburgh Parks & Recreation Department will be offering a free kayak trip to all Town of Plattsburgh active adults and seniors from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 13.
The group will start in Saranac at Picketts Corners Park at 10 a.m. and travel 6.3 miles down the river to Cadyville Beach, taking about 2.5 hours.
All equipment will be provided to those who need it or bring your own.
All participants must pre-register by stopping by or calling the Town of Plattsburgh Parks & Recreation Department at 151 Banker Road, 562-6860.
Meadowbrook plans annual block party
PLATTSBURGH — Meadowbrook Healthcare’s annual Block Party will be held 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 15.
The facility will put on a carnival atmosphere for residents, families and community neighbors, with free games, crafts and other activities.
A selection of carnival-type foods will be available for purchase.
Last year, about 350 attended.
Busy B’s group offering trips
BEEKMANTOWN — The Beekmantown Busy B’s are offering two upcoming trips.
The group will travel to Lake George on Thursday, Aug. 22, to see the dinner show “Moonlight and Magnolias” at the Holiday Inn Resort. The bus will leave the Beekmantown Town Hall at 9:30 a.m.
The price for members is $41 and $60 for guests. The meal choices are beef, chicken, salmon and vegetarian pasta. Those wishing to attend should send their check and meal choice to Sylvia Culley, 25 Trim Road, Apartment 1, Morrisonville, NY.
The trip will be open to everyone after Saturday, Aug. 10.
The group will also travel to Lancaster, Pa., from Monday to Thursday, Sept. 16 to 19. The agenda includes a trip to the Sight and Sound Theater production of “Noah.”
The cost is $495 per person and includes motel accommodations, meals (lunches excluded), transportation and tax and tips. The registration deadline is Tuesday, Aug. 20.

Senior Citizens Council planning Lake George trip
PLATTSBURGH — The Senior Citizens Council of Clinton County is offering a trip to the Lake George Dinner Theatre performance of “Moonlight and Magnolias.”
The trip will take place Tuesday, Sept. 17, and costs $85 per person, which includes coach transportation, lunch and a ticket to the show.
The bus will leave Plattsburgh at 9:30 a.m. and arrive back at about 6:30 p.m., which includes time for shopping in Lake George.
Lunch choices are medallions of beef, chicken piccata, broiled salmon or vegetarian pasta, all served with salad, rolls, vegetables, dessert and coffee or tea.
