---- — Chefs, farmers pair up for tasting event
SARANAC LAKE — The third-annual Chefs and Farmers: Taste of the Adirondacks is from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, at the Harrietstown Town Hall Auditorium, 39 Main St.
The tasting event, put on by the Green Circle and the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, showcases the talents of chefs from local restaurants and catering companies. Each chef will partner with local farms to create a dish featuring locally grown ingredients.
Attendees will have the opportunity to sample all of the dishes by purchasing $1 tickets. A tasting will range from one to five tickets.
A farmers’ cocktail reception, where guests may interact and learn from many of our local growers, will be from 7 to 8 p.m.

Trip to Botanical Gardens offered
PLATTSBURGH — The Master Gardener Volunteers of Cornell Cooperative Extension are offering a trip to the Botanical Gardens in Montreal on Wednesday, Sept. 25.
Riding in a Premier motor coach, the group will leave Plattsburgh at 12:45 p.m. and arrive at the gardens at about 2:10 p.m. Departure from the gardens is at 8 p.m. for a 9:30 p.m. arrival in Plattsburgh.
Headlining the summer program at the Botanical Gardens is an exhibit of living sculptures that make up Mosaicultures Internationales.
The registration deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 10. The prepaid registration fee of $63 covers round-trip transportation and admission to the Botanical Gardens, greenhouses, pavilions and the Insectarium. Also included is admission to the Garden of Light and the Mosaiculture Internationales. The tour will take place rain or shine. The registration fee is non-refundable unless the extension is forced to cancel the event. Attendees must have a passport or enhanced driver’s license to board the bus and cross the border. Space is limited.
