Tonight's comedy show helps local Girl Scouts

ROUSES POINT — The Adirondack Comedy Club will host a benefit comedy show at 8 tonight at the American Legion Post 912, 29 Pratt St.

“Giggles for Girls,” which benefits the local Girl Scout Troop, features Carmen Lagala, Autumn Spencer and Kit Rivers. The event is hosted by Raymond Wayman.

Activities offered foryoung children in May

PLATTSBURGH — The Child Care Council has a number of events planned for young children during May.

“Music with Motion” will be held each Wednesday in May at Families R Us, 24 Fourth St., Malone. The class is at 10 a.m. for toddlers and 11 a.m. for preschoolers. Call 481-7281 for more information.

Chazy Library Nursery School will host a story time with Diane Sabourin from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 1. Ages 3 through 5 are invited. Call 846-7676 for more information.

On Saturday, May 4, a number of free events will be offered at Point au Roche State Park. A bird walk led by Judy Heintz is from 8 to 9:30 a.m.; a 5K fun run (child and adult categories) is at 9:30 a.m.; and dedication of the Dr. Phil Walker Memorial Nature Trail is at 10:30 a.m. Events from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. include guided beaver-dam walks, reading under the trees, making healthy trail mix and planting wildflower seeds with master gardeners. Grant to help with children’s summer programming

PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton County Historical Association recently received a $400 grant from the Stewart’s Shops’ Holiday Match program.

The funds will be used to support a summer children’s program series that will target Clinton County youth. These programs will provide children with an opportunity to interact with museum staff and learn about local history.

The Clinton County Historical Association is located at 98 Ohio Ave. in Plattsburgh. It is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. For more information, visit www.clintoncountyhistorical.org, or find the organization on Facebook.

Chazy Public Library holding story time

CHAZY — Chazy Public Library, 1329 Fiske Road, will host story time from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11.

The week’s theme is “Reading to Grow With.”Children ages 3 to 8 can join in for stories about plants, planting and a special activity.
