Fidelis Care Open House coming up

PLATTSBURGH — On Monday, Aug. 19, and Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., fidelis Care will provide a free Health Insurance Open House in the lobby of CVPH Medical Center.

Representatives will provide information and answer questions to discuss options for low-cost or free coverage for those who qualify.

Fidelis offers New York state’s Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus and Medicaid Managed Care programs. Children under the age of 19 will be eligible for Child Health Plus, which may be free or $9 a month per child. Adults between the ages of 19 and 64 are eligible for the low-cost health coverage through Family Health Plus. Eligibility is based on the size of the household and gross monthly income. Regular checkups, preventive care, hospital and emergency care, eye exams, and dental are all covered under Fidelis Care.

To apply for enrollment, bring proof of age, income and address.

Raffle to benefit Port Henry library

PORT HENRY — Tickets are on sale for Sherman Free Library’s Labor Day raffle. 

Items for this year’s raffle include a moose season quilt made by Jackie Viestenz and a vintage high-school desk. Both are on display in the library at 20 Church St.

Tickets are $1 each or three for $2. The winners’ names will be drawn at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, during the library’s Fill-A-Bag book sale, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds benefit the library.

Imaginarium offering weekend of activities

PLATTSBURGH — The Imaginarium Children’s Museum is hosting a yard sale and free clothing swap from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at its 4709 Route 9 location.

Up for grabs are children’s items, toys and household goods. Clothing to swap is optional.

As well, children can learn about insects, reptiles and furry friends at “Creepy Crawlies - Bugs and Animals, Oh My!” from 10 a.m to 1 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $6 per person ages 2 and up, and $4 for members.
