---- — Doctor to speak about rheumatology 

PLATTSBUGH — A rheumatologist at CVPH Medical Center will give a presentation as part of the CVPH Community Lecture Series at 6 tonight at the West Side Ballroom, 253 New York Road.

Dr. Marz Qubti will speak about “Rheumatology at A Glance: The Arthritis Foundation Perspective.”

Qubti will discuss a number of medical conditions treated by rheumatologists, including rheumatoid arthritis, osteo arthritis, fibromyalgia and other autoimmune diseases. His discussion will include various aspects of arthritis, including the management of pain and inflammation as laid out by the Arthritis Foundation.

Flu clinic set for Thursday

AUSABLE FORKS — A flu clinic is being held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Town of Jay Community Center gym.

The clinic is open to all, including non-residents of Essex County.

Pre-registration is encouraged, and forms are available at the Town of Jay Supervisor’s Office. The cost is $30 per vaccine; free for Medicare or Medicaid recipients.

Women’s Health Night rescheduled

ELIZABETHTOWN — Women’s Health Night at Elizabethtown Community Hospital has been rescheduled for 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, in the hospital lobby and board room.

The free event is open to the public and includes speakers, osteoporosis screenings, health-related information, body mass index assessment and blood-pressure checks.

Hawkins Hall to go blue for World Diabetes Day

PLATTSBURGH — Members of the community are invited to dress in blue and join as a human circle forms in front of Hawkins Hall in honor of World Diabetes Day, starting at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

At dusk, the building itself will be illuminated in blue to raise awareness of diabetes. 

The college’s student Nursing Club is sponsoring the event.

World Diabetes Day is a global event that unites millions of people trying to get the word out about the dangers of diabetes in more than 160 countries.

Free Living Healthy workshop starts Friday

TICONDEROGA — A free Living Healthy workshop for those who have ongoing chronic health conditions starts on Friday, Nov. 16, at Inter-Lakes Health, Ethan Allen Library, 1019 Wicker St.

The six-session workshop schedule is: 9 to 11:30 a.m. Fridays, Nov. 16, 30, Dec. 7, 14, 21 and 28. Participants must attend week one or week two to complete sessions three through six.

Participants will learn self-management skills and set their own goals to improve their health and life.
