Beekmantown School Board committees to meet

BEEKMANTOWN — Beekmantown School Board will hold several committee meetings this week.

The Audit Committee will meet at 2:30 p.m. today in the Business Office to review the June, 30, 2012, Auditor’s Report and the July-to-September 2012 Internal Financial Reports.

The Policy Committee will meet at 4:30 p.m. today in the Buildings & Grounds Office to discuss policies related to the Fitness Center.

The Operations Committee will meet at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Buildings and Grounds Office so Tetra Tech can provide an update on the EXCEL Phase II project.

The meetings are all open to the public.

LPCS Board to meet at 6 tonight

LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid Central School Board will review board goals and objectives at a meeting that starts at 6 p.m. Tuesdayin the Administrative Services Center, 50 Cummings Road, Lake Placid.

Following that work session, the agenda for the regular session will include coaching assignments and adoption of a memorandum of understanding on the teacher evaluation process.

Both sessions are open to the public.

Mooers to appoint new clerk

MOOERS — The Mooers Town Council will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Mooers Office Complex to appoint a new town clerk/tax collector/registrar and any other business as deemed necessary to cover.

The public is welcome.

Funds needed for ice run for storm victims

PLATTSBURGH — Volunteers will truck 7,200 pounds of ice and other much-needed items to Highlands, N.J., to help with storm relief.

Headed by Tonia Finnegan of the North Country Club in Keeseville and Dean Martin of Rouses Point are organizing the trip, which will head out Wednesday morning.

“Half the town is decimated,” Martin said. “Power isn’t expected to be turned on until later this weekend at the earliest. They’ve been here for us, for the Ice Storm. It’s their time of need — we need to help them.”
