Purple lights at PSU

PLATTSBURGH — Purple lights will illuminate Hawkins Hall on the SUNY Plattsburgh campus the week of Oct. 14, to commemorate the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence’s “Shine the Light on Domestic Violence” campaign.

STOP Domestic Violence and Behavioral Health Services North Inc. of Plattsburgh have been organizing events to raise awareness of domestic violence in the North Country for more than a decade.

BHSN is collaborating with SUNY Plattsburgh’s Department of Gender and Women’s Studies, campus co-sponsor of the initiative, hosting various events for the campaign.

At a forum open to all, J. Garland Waller, who produced the documentary “No Way Out But One” about domestic-violence survivor Holly Collins and her family, will share her perspective on domestic violence and answer questions from 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, in Room 208, Yokum Lecture Hall.

Clinton County Farm Bureau to discuss policies

PLATTSBURGH — The public can be part of policy development at the Clinton County Farm Bureau annual meeting set for Thursday at Guma’s Restaurant in West Chazy. 

Only regular members have the right to vote and hold office.

New York Farm Bureau’s state annual meeting will be held at the Desmond Hotel in Albany on Dec. 4 and 6.
