Plattsburgh City Common Council meets tonight

PLATTSBURGH — At tonight’s City of Plattsburgh Common Council session, the board will consider a resolution to transfer about $600,000 from the available fund balance to the Fire Department account. 

The funds will cover the raises department employees were awarded in recent arbitration totaling 2.9 percent for 2008 and 3 percent for 2008 and 2009 respectively.

Other items to be acted on include a bid of $83,516 for two 2500 KVA pad-mounted transformers made by Power Sales Group Inc. and reports on the Building Inspector’s Office, fire and ambulance responses and cash receipts from Plattsburgh Public Library.

The meeting begins with a work session at 5 p.m, followed by the regular session at 5:30 p.m.

Both are open to the public.

Agenda set for AVC School Board meeting

AUSABLE FORKS — The AuSable Valley Central School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at the AuSable Forks Elementary School cafeteria in AuSable Forks.

It is anticipated that the meeting will begin with presentations, followed by an executive session and then a return to open session.

The board will consider special-education recommendations, approval of a special bus vote and personnel issues.

The meeting is open to the public.

Boil-water order declared for Black Brook District 1

BLACK BROOK — A boil-water order was declared Wednesday for users in Black Brook Water District #1 from the corner of North Main Street and Silver Lake Road to the end of the district at the north end of Silver Lake Road.

The Clinton County Health Department says all water for drinking, cooking, washing food and brushing teeth must be boiled to ensure safety. The directive will be in place until the department deems the water safe for consumption.
