Caregiver support groups to meet

PLATTSBURGH — A discussion group for all unpaid caregivers is set for 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at the United Way Building, 45 Tom Miller Road.

Another group will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, at the Emmaus Room at St. Peter’s Church.

In addition, a telephone support group is now offered from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19. Caregivers may call 565-4543 or 565-4625 for more information.

The groups, offered by the Caregiver Resource Center/Respite Program, are a component of Behavioral Health Services North. They are open to anyone providing unpaid care to an aging family member or friend. New caregivers, friends and family are welcome. No appointment necessary.

Town of Plattsburgh offering trip to ice show in Lake Placid

PLATTSBURGH — The Town of Plattsburgh is sponsoring a trip to the Lake Placid Olympic Center on Sunday, Dec. 30, to see the Smucker’s Stars on Ice show.

The program is open first to any Town of Plattsburgh senior citizens and then to all other Clinton County senior citizens, if space is available.

The cost of the trip $20, which includes the ticket price. The bus will be leaving the mall parking lot at 5:30 p.m. and will return after the show around 11 p.m.

Preregistration and prepayment are mandatory before Friday, Dec. 14. To register, call 562-6860 or stop by the town Recreation Office.
