Nominations sought for makeover contest

BRUSHTON — Creative Hair Designs seeks nominations for its fourth-annual New Year’s Makeover contest.

The Brushton salon invites people to write a letter about someone they believe deserves some pampering for a day. The winner receive free hair styling, hair products, a massage from Michelle Durant of Loving Hands Mobile Therapeutic Massage, photos after the makeover by Inspirational Moments Photography and a gift certificate for family photos. Lisa Gervais of Lather Salon will assist with the makeover. 

Send letters giving the nominee’s name and phone number, saying why that person should win to: Creative Hair Designs, PO Box 726, Brushton, NY 12916.  The deadline is Dec. 22.

Donations sought for wreaths for veterans’ graves

ELIZABETHTOWN — The Essex County Veterans Cemetery Committee is accepting donations to buy holiday wreaths to place on the graves of the 35 veterans interred at the County Veterans Cemetery.

Each wreath is $12, so they will cost $420 total.

“So far we have raised about half of that,” said Committee Chairman Newman Tryon.

The wreath-laying ceremony will take place starting at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, and the public is invited to attend and participate.
