Town offers Quebec trip for seniors

PLATTSBURGH — The Town of Plattsburgh is sponsoring a trip to Quebec on June 10 for a Discovery Cruise from Croisieres du Lac Champlain.

The day program is open first to any Town of Plattsburgh senior citizen and then to all other county senior citizens if space is available. Passports or enhanced licenses are required to cross the border.

The cost for the trip is $60, which includes lunch at the Marina Restaurant and the two-hour cruise.

The bus will be leaving the Champlain Centre mall parking lot in front of Sears at 10 a.m. and returning to Plattsburgh by 6 p.m.

Preregistration and prepayment are mandatory before June 2. Register by calling or stopping by the Parks & Recreation Office at 562-6860 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. 

There are a limited number of spaces to be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Castaways announce June show dates

PLATTSBURGH — The Castaways have set their performance list for June.

The shows are: 10:30 a.m. June 2, Clinton County Nursing Home, Flynn Ave, Plattsburgh (563-0950); 1 p.m. June 3, Vilas Home, Beekman Street, Plattsburgh (563-4960); 10:30 a.m. June 9, Evergreen Valley Nursing Home, 8 Bushey Blvd., Plattsburgh (563-3261); 2 p.m. June 10, Neighborhood House, Main Street, Keene Valley (576-4474); 10 a.m. June 20, Lakeview Towers, Flynn Avenue, Plattsburgh (561-8696); 6 to 9 p.m. June 21, The Coffee House, Main Street, Hemmingford, Quebec (450-8732); 3:30 p.m. June 21, Pine Harbour Assisted Living, 15 New Hampshire Road, Plattsburgh (561-5307); 2 to 4 p.m. June 22, Holy Angels, Main Street, Altona (236-5848).

 

Computer Club schedules workshops

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh Computer Club that meets at the Clinton County Senior Center is hosting a workshop from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Monday, June 2.

Verizon Wireless will be conducting the workshop, with subject matter to include: pros/cons of going with a phone carrier that has a contract requirement versus one that does not have a contract requirement; phone and plan costs; cellular-service contracts with voice, data and texting plans; lock codes; encrypting phones; add-ons; voice recognition; and cutting phone costs.

Also, on July 7, Staples will be doing a workshop on the new Windows 8 operating system.

The next beginners computer class will start at 9 a.m. Monday, July 7. This class usually runs six weeks.
