Rouses Point offers budget billing for electric charges

ROUSES POINT — Residential customers of the Village of Rouses Point Municipal Electric Department can apply to pay their their electric charges by a budget billing arrangement.

Applicants must have a 12-month clear record in order to qualify.

Based upon previous years’ usage and a projected per kilowatt hour cost, including supplemental power charge, a customer’s annual electric expense is estimated and then paid in 11 payments, with the remaining month (May) used to reconcile underpayments or overpayments.

To apply, call 297-5502, ext. 315 or 332 between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday prior to May 30, which is the deadline for the service for 2014-15.

All customers now on the program will remain, with the budget amount appearing on the top portion of their bill commencing in June.

City Quality of Life Committee to meet

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh City Council’s Quality of Life Committee will meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, in the second-floor meeting room of City Hall.

Topics of discussion will include continued planning for city beautification projects, such as a community cleanup day, collaboration with civic groups, the flower tool-kit drive, wildflower seeding and reports from the newly formed Tree Council.

Residents are being encouraged to attend.

Applicants sought for Alice Lewis Scholarship

PLATTSBURGH — The deadline is Friday, May 30, to submit an application to the Alice K. Lewis Scholarship Program at SUNY Plattsburgh.

Psi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society offers the awards of at least $500 to help foster the recruitment, education and development of highly competent teachers, a press release said.
