AVCS Board to hold budget hearing Monday at 6:30 p.m.

CLINTONVILLE — The AuSable Valley Central School Board will hold its annual budget hearing in the Middle School-High School at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 12.

The public is encouraged to attend.

Cleanup effort planned for Malone

MALONE — The Greater Malone Chamber of Commerce is seeking volunteers to help spruce up downtown Malone next week.

Main Street Clean Up 2014 will be held beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, and Thursday, May 15, with rain dates of May 19 and May 24.

People are needed to spray weeds, use a power washer, sweep sidewalks, pick up debris, rake grass in the parks, wash windows to paint fire hydrants, wrought-iron fencing and the lower sections of light poles.

Those wishing to volunteer or provide equipment are asked to contact the chamber at 483-3760.

Franklin Academy accepting scholarship applications

MALONE — The Academic Board of Trustees of Franklin Academy is accepting applications for two post-graduate scholarships until May 15.

The scholarships will be awarded at ceremonies in June.

The Alfred A. Hartmann Sr. Medical Scholarship will go to a medical student or students residing in Franklin County.

The Hon. Robert G. Main, Sr. and Hon. Robert G. Main Jr. Legal Scholarship can go to any law school student who lives in the Fourth Judicial District, with primary consideration given to Franklin County residents.

Applicants for either scholarship must apply in writing no later than May 15 in letter or resume form, including information on academic performance at the undergraduate and graduate level, as appropriate, together with the applicant’s basis for seeking an award and plans or aspirations upon graduation. Include any references in a separately sealed envelope.
