Westport Town Hall to close for holiday

WESTPORT — The Westport Town Hall will be closed from Nov. 27 to 29 for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

The offices will reopen Monday, Dec. 2.

Opening date set for new PAFB Museum

PLATTSBURGH — The grand opening for the Plattsburgh Air Force Base Museum has been set for Saturday, June 7, 2014.

The event has been set to coincide with Museum Days, a weekend in which many area museums are open to the public with free admission.

PAFB Museum’s inaugural ceremony and ribbon cutting will be held at 11 a.m. on June 7. It will also feature the launch of the new book authored by John Stone and Jeff Stephens, a history of the 556th SMS. A presentation, brief discussion and book signing opportunity are planned.

The museum will be open on Sunday, June 8, with free admission to all for the day.

People can become life members ($250) or individual yearly members ($25) of the museum. Sign up online at:

Sessions on community services planned

PLATTSBURGH — Clinton County New York Connects is holding a public educational series on a variety of community services.

Here is the schedule:

Veterans Services: 10 to 11:30 a.m. Dec. 11; Steve Bowman of Clinton County Veterans Services discusses what services are available.

Social Security: 10 to 11:30 a.m. Dec. 18; Social Security representative Kirsten Darrah answers questions.

Champlain Valley Senior Community: 10 to 11:30 a.m. Jan. 15; owner Eli Schwartzberg talks about this new option for senior living.

Potential Suicide in the Elderly: 10 to 11:30 a.m. Jan. 29; Bonnie Black and Russell Gray lead the discussion.

All presentations will be held in the Clinton County Government Center, 137 Margaret St., first-floor meeting room. A visitor parking lot can be accessed via Court Street.
