Wine tour

PLATTSBURGH — The fourth annual Adirondack Coast Summer Wine Tour is taking place Aug. 10 and 11 from noon to 6 p.m. on both days.

Participants will spend the weekend discovering the area’s emerging wine trail and sampling the Adirondack Coast’s finest wines and ciders. The Adirondack Coast wine trail travels 66 miles through farmland, small towns and the historic city of Plattsburgh linking seven locations.

Each vineyard and cidery will be offering unique tastings and experiences all included with the purchase of a passport ticket. The passport is $12 and includes one free Adirondack Coast Wine Trail souvenir wine glass and tastings at each participating location.

Throughout the weekend, visitors can enjoy local artists and crafters exhibiting at Elfs Farm, Winery & Cider Mill; cheese and chocolate wine pairings at the Champlain Wine Company; light Italian fare with a strolling violinist at Amazing Grace Vineyard & Winery; a delicious dessert pairing at Vesco Ridge Vineyards; self-guided vineyard tours at Stonehouse Vineyard; wagon-guided vineyard tours at Hid-in-Pines Vineyard; and pulled-pork sliders made with hard cider at Everett Orchards Farm Market & Cidery.

Dan Vesco, owner of Vesco Ridge Vineyards, said the tour is a great opportunity for visitors and residents to celebrate the official legislation of the Adirondack Coast Wine Trail.

“Each winery and cidery has worked together on the Summer Wine Tour to promote our local agriculture while providing entertainment and education to guests,” he said.

Designated drivers can enjoy free non-alcoholic drinks and enter a drawing for two tickets to the Adirondack Coast Wine, Cider and Food Festival plus a one night stay at the Plattsburgh Days Inn & Suites.
