Building Strong Families workshop set for July 26
OGDENSBURG — Building strong families will be the focus of a workshop Saturday, July 26, offered by the Diocese of Ogdensburg.
Dr. Angela Franks, author, professor, scholar and TV host, will examine factors that can negatively impact marriage, including commitment phobia, pornography, the hook-up culture and unintended consequences of contraception.
Franks researches, writes and publishes extensively on these topics.
Since 2007, she has been a professor at St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, Mass., where she is currently director of the Master of Theological Studies Program for the New Evangelization.
The workshop, which is open to all, will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Church of the Visitation (Parish Center) in Norfolk.

Ticonderoga church to host Vacation Bible School
TICONDEROGA — Vacation Bible School will be held for preschool through grade 12 at the First United Methodist Church, 1045 Wicker St., Ticonderoga.
The school will be 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, through Friday, Aug. 8, in the church fellowship hall.
The theme this year will be “Workshop of Wonders, Imagine and Build with God.”
Each evening, Bible stories, skits, crafts, snacks and active games will be featured. Familiar songs will be sung.
Pastor Scott Tyler and dedicated adults and older students will be leading the activities.

Local church to celebrated St. James Day
AUSABLE FORKS — In recognition of its patron Saint, St. James Episcopal Church in AuSable Forks will be celebrating St. James Day from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 26, on the church grounds at 14216 NYS Route 9N.
There will be games inside the Parish Hall and refreshments, poetry readings and music with a special campfire sing-along outside.
