Essex United Methodist to talk about SEGA School

ESSEX — The Essex Community United Methodist Church will host a meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, to discuss the updates and future plans for the SEGA Girls School in Tanzania, Africa.

The meeting will focus on the journey to create an eco-friendly boarding school that will teach academics, life skills and business skills to vulnerable girls in Tanzania, a press release states.

The school was co-founded by Polly and Tracey Dolan, sisters who are both summer residents of Essex.

Malone Catholic Charities adds staff member

MALONE — Florence "Ricci" Duffee has joined the staff at Catholic Charities at 57 Rennie St., Malone.

Duffee will provide counseling for ages 16 and up. She specializes in helping people deal with anxiety, depression and trauma.

Counseling hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays.

Carol Lee Whitmore to speak at Church of Spiritualism

MALONE — Carol Lee Whitmore will present a "Maintaining a Healthy Balance Using the Magnificent Human Body" program at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 20, at the Malone Adult Center, 18 Morton St.

Whitmore began exploring holistic healing after graduating as a registered nurse 21 years ago, according to a press release. She will present information on self-healing that reflects lessons from a lifetime of experiences and knowledge in the field of alternative medicine. 

There will be a potluck luncheon after the service. A free-will offering defrays expenses.

Also, Tana Hanley leads Tuesday night meditation at the Adult Center. Doors open at 6.
