Town postpones swimming lessons

PLATTSBURGH — The Town of Plattsburgh Parks & Recreation Department has announced that swim lessons scheduled to begin Monday, June 30, at the Cadyville Beach have been postponed and will begin July 7.

This is due to the low water levels on the Saranac River in Cadyville.

Willsboro Library plans Fun Walk/Run

WILLSBORO — The Friends of the Westport Library will sponsor a Fun Walk/Run at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at the Point Road Soccer Field in Willsboro.

Registration starts at 9 a.m., with the walk/run set to go off at 10.

Participants will choose their distance.

Children will be encouraged to use the track. All others may run/walk the River Lane.

Suggested donation is $15 per person or $25 per family. All proceeds will benefit the library.

Sherman Library plans summer reading program

PORT HENRY — Fizz, Boom, Read and Spark a Reaction are coming to the Sherman Free Library in Port Henry this summer.

The summer reading program includes Fizz, Boom, Read for children ages 5 to 11. Fizz, Boom, Read will meet at 6 p.m. Thursdays from July 24 through Aug. 14 for science-themed presentations including a magician, live birds and animals, and more.

Spark a Reaction is for ages 12 to 14. The Spark a Reaction book club will meet July 16, July 30 and Aug. 13 to discuss three books.

All participants who keep a log of books read throughout the program will be entered in a prize drawing.

Signup for both age groups is July 8 through 12 at the library.

Reading logs and program schedule will be handed out at that time.

Saranac Lake Library to host Summer Reading Program

SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake Free Library, 109 Main St., will host its Mary MacIntyre Summer Reading Program, from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesdays, July 9, 16 and 23, in the Cantwell Community Room.

Children will be organized in pre-school, first and second, and third and fourth grade groups.

Fizz, Boom, Read! is the theme that will tie together the stories, craft projects, activities and special guests.
