Elmore SPCA Yard Sale postponed

CADYVILLE — Due to a forecast of heavy rain, the Elmore SPCA Yard Sale scheduled for Friday and Saturday has been moved to July 5 and 6.

The fundraiser for the Peru animal shelter will take place 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on those dates at 2087 Route 3 in Cadyville.

Donations are still welcome, except for large appliances and televisions, according to Joe Swinyer.

Items can be delivered to the site until day of sale, or pickup can be arranged by calling him at 293-7528 or Wade Brooks at 335-9193.


City continues hydrant-flushing program

PLATTSBURGH — The City of Plattsburgh Fire Department’s hydrant-flushing program targets the same streets today as it did Wednesday. 

The streets affected, sometime between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., are Pond, Peru, Caroline, Pike, Bridge, Macomb, Madconough, Jay, Dock, Green and Cornelia streets, along with Prospect Avenue, Turner Court and Mason Avenue.

Water in the system will be stirred up and may be cloudy or rust colored coming out of the faucet during the flushing.

Residents are urged to avoid washing clothes or bathing during that time.


Electric outage set for Tupper Lake upgrade

TUPPER LAKE — The Village of Tupper Lake has scheduled a power outage for 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday, July 2, to perform system upgrades. 

Here are the areas that will be affected: Stetson Road from Hosley to Wawbeek avenues, the Becky and Larking avenue areas, and 1st and 2nd streets.

In the event of rain, the outage will take place July 3 at the same time.
