More city hydrant flushing planned for today
PLATTSBURGH — The City of Plattsburgh Fire Department will continue flushing hydrants today.
The streets affected, sometime between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., will be Pond, Peru, Caroline, Pike, Bridge, Macomb, Madconough, Jay, Dock, Green and Cornelia streets, along with Prospect Avenue, Turner Court and Mason Avenue.
Water in the system will be stirred up and may be cloudy or rust colored coming out of the faucet during the flushing. Residents are urged to avoid washing clothes or bathing during that time.
National Guard conducting flight training through this Thursday
BURLINGTON — The Vermont Air National Guard is conducting increased flight operations this week from its base at the Burlington International Airport.
Flight training will be conducted through Thursday. The increased flying schedule will include the launch and recovery of F-16s.
Price Chopper recalls cookies
SCHENECTADY — Price Chopper Supermarket has voluntarily recalled three varieties of Burst Cookies — Brownie, Almond and Raspberry — a frozen cookie produced by Jacqueline’s Wholesale Bakery and baked in all of the chain’s in-store bakeries.
The presence of milk, a known allergen, was not declared on the ingredient label.
“The product is not harmful in any way to those who are not allergic to milk products,” a press release said.
The recall includes cookies with sell-by dates of Sept. 5, 2012, through June 21, 2013.
Customers are encouraged to return any packages of Burst cookies to the store for a full refund.

PLATTSBURGH — Champlain Valley Habitat for Humanity is soliciting donations of usable household items for its garage sale, set for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 20, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, July 21.
