Support group addresses struggles with dementia 

PLATTSBURGH — The Alzheimer’s Disease Assistance Center is offering a caregiver support group at 10 a.m. today in the HRT Conference Room at Sibley Hall, SUNY Plattsburgh.

Those who are not able to attend may participate in the center’s telephone support group, which begins at 9 a.m. The number is 1 (866) 940-5310, and the guest code is 2322#.

Both of these groups are free and open to anyone caring for someone with dementia.

Immunization clinics planned in Franklin County

MALONE — Franklin County Public Health will hold two immunization clinics.

They are scheduled for 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 125 Catherine St., Malone; and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 136 Broadway, Saranac Lake.

A parent with current immunization records must accompany all children. Vaccines will also be available for children and young adults.

Call 481-1105 for an appointment, although walk-ins are welcome.


Free testing available for STIsat Ti health center

TICONDEROGA — Essex County residents can get free testing for sexually transmitted infections on Wednesdays, Nov. 6 and 20, at Planned Parenthood Mohawk Hudson, 171 Lake George Ave.

The health center is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and you do not have to be a Planned Parenthood patient to get tested.

Walk-ins are welcome, however the reservations are encouraged by calling 792-0994.


Blood drive set in Black Brook on Thursday

AUSABLE FORKS — The Black Brook Town Hall is hosting a blood drive from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7.

The drive will be held in memory of Leota Perkins, mother of Deanna Santor, a longtime supporter of the blood drives. There will be a drawing for multiple door prizes.
