---- — Halloween Festival today in Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN — The Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School senior class will be hosting a Halloween Festival today at the Hale House.

“Family Fun” is from noon to 4:30 p.m., with hayrides, a pumpkin patch, pumpkin and face painting, a haunted house, Halloween games and a concession stand. “Not for the Fainthearted” is from 6 to 9 p.m. and features a haunted hayride, haunted house and concession. 

The cost is $5 per person or $20 for a family.

The Hale House driveway is located between Egglefield Ford and the blinking light in Elizabethtown.

Mall-o-ween event set for Sunday

PLATTSBURGH — Champlain Centre’s annual Mall-o-ween event is from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27. 

The mall will host safe trick-or-treating, live entertainment, a costume contest and more indoor fun.

Stores have been directed to not hand out any candy until 3 p.m., so participating families should not arrive prior to the event time. Participating stores will also have signage indicating that they will be giving out candy.

The children’s costume contest will start at 5 p.m. in front of Gander Mountain. The age groups will begin at the following times: zero to 4 years, 5 p.m.; 5 to 8 years, 5:20 p.m.; and 9 to 12 years, 5:40 p.m. 

Preregistration for the contest is being offered to reduce the preparation time for the event. Call 561-8660 or visit the mall office to preregister. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Bob for pumpkins at annual YMCA event Sunday

PLATTSBURGH — Children ages 3 to 14 are invited to the Plattsburgh YMCA’s annual Bobbing for Pumpkins event on Sunday, Oct. 27.

Pumpkins of all shapes and sizes will fill the swimming pool, allowing children to swim and bob for a pumpkin of their choice. Children are encouraged to gather in the gymnasium to decorate their pumpkins while enjoying refreshments. 

Children ages 3 to 5 swim from 12:30 to 1 p.m. or 1:15 to 1:45 p.m.; ages 6 to 8 swim from 2 to 2:30 p.m.; and children ages 9 to 14 swim from 2:45 to 3:15 p.m.

Members pay a fee of $8, non-members pay $10, and families with more than one child pay $15.

Spooktacular Movie Extravaganza fundraiser today

AUSABLE FORKS — The fifth-annual Spooktacular Movie Extravaganza Halloween event at the Hollywood Theatre in AuSable Forks is set for today.

A fundraiser for the AuSable Forks Elementary School Parent-Teacher-Organization, the event will run from 11:15 a.m. to 11 p.m. Doors will open at 11 a.m.

This Spooktacular Extravaganza event is open to the public and is encouraged for children of all ages throughout the community. The event will consist of some family-friendly movies as well as some classic Halloween favorites. It is recommended that children younger than 10 be accompanied by an adult. Older children may be present without parental guidance; however, there are movies with PG, PG-13 and R ratings.

“Know your parental comfort level,” a news release said.

Participants are invited to bring canned food items or other non-perishable food items to support the M&M Diner Holiday Food Drive, including turkey gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, yams, potatoes and canned vegetables.

Kids are welcome to wear their Halloween costumes.

The price per movie per person is $3; an all-day pass is $10. Children 2 years and younger are free.

Movies and times are: 11:15 a.m., “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown,” “Monsters vs. Aliens”; noon, “Mickey’s House of Villains,” “Monster High: 13 Wishes”; 1:30 p.m., “Monsters Inc.,” “Spooky Buddies”; 3:15 p.m., “Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Halloween Town”; 4:45 p.m. “Hotel Transylvania,” “Addams Family”; 6:30 p.m., “Coraline,” “Gremlins”; and 8:30 p.m., “Poltergeist,” “The Shining.”

Story time coming up at Chazy library

CHAZY — The Chazy Public Library, 1329 Fiske Road, is hosting story time at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2. 

Jaimie Marsden, a local parent and educator, will present stories and an activity of thankfulness and seasonal tidings. The event is for children ages 3 to 8.
