Cornell Cooperative Extention’s Sunday Garden Series starts soon in Lake Placid

LAKE PLACID — The 2013 Sunday Garden Series will kick off with the free program “Let’s Plant” from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at Heaven Hill Farm, 302 Bear Cub Lane.

Dana Fast will share the results of 35-plus years of experimental gardening in a cold northern climate. Directly sowing seeds in the garden can save the gardener time and money. It can also produce an early crop of fresh greens and vegetables. Participants will take home a garden cloche and some seeds to plant right away.

Also in the series: “The Climate Friendly Gardener” on April 28 and “Fresh is Best” on May 19.

The series is presented by the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Essex County Master Gardener volunteers.
