PLATTSBURGH — The North Country Chamber of Commerce invites area business people to Business After Hours on Aug. 15 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The event will be held under the big-top on the lawn at 61 Area Development Drive.

The Development Corp. and Taylor Rental Party Plus will co-sponsor the event. Participants will enjoy a BBQ-themed event featuring music by DJ Watty, food, networking and fun.

Attendees may bring a business card for a chance to win door prizes including two $400 gift certificates to Wilson Appliances and two rounds of golf at Adirondack Golf.

Business After Hours is an opportunity to expand business networks and is open to all chamber members and their employees. Future members are encouraged to contact the chamber for a special-guest pass. The fee for Business After Hours is $3 with an advance reservation and $4 without. Donation bestowed

PLATTSBURGH — In celebration of their 83rd year of business, Northern Insuring/Northern Benefits recently made an $830 donation to Behavioral Health Services North.

Carina Parrow nominated the organization for the prize donation at the Plattsburgh North Country Chamber of Commerce 2013 Business Expo.

The contribution will be put toward the Supported Employment Program, which helps individuals purchase appropriate attire for job interviews as well as time-limited support with transportation to and from work such as bus tokens or taxi vouchers.

Appreciation Day

CHAMPLAIN — Champlain Telephone Company will celebrate its 110th anniversary with its annual Customer Appreciation Day and a fundraiser for local libraries.

On Saturday, Aug. 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Champlain Telephone will hold its Appreciation Day in conjunction with the Champlain Town-Wide Garage Sale and Champlain Day.

The employees of Champlain Telephone have donated gently used garage sale items and will participate in the town-wide sale on that day. All proceeds will be split evenly among the libraries located in the Champlain Telephone service area which includes Mooers, Altona, Champlain and Rouses Point. Raffle tickets will be on sale throughout the day for a variety of prizes.
