ELCS renovation project totals about $651,000

ELIZABETHTOWN — A capital project totaling $651,293 at Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School will be put to vote noon to 8 p.m. March 5.

Proposition 1 totals $341,293 and would have no tax implications to ELCS property owners due to state aid. It focuses on repairs to the roof, utilities and other areas.

Proposition 2 totals $310,000 and focuses on asbestos abatement and replacing the flooring in elementary classrooms. It requires local taxpayer funding of about 33 percent, which would translate to 4 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value.

A public hearing on the EXCEL-aided project will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, in the ELCS conference room.
