American Legion seeks donations for soldiers
PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton County American Legion Family, comprising legionnaires, auxiliary units and sons of the American Legion, has adopted the 1st Platoon, C Company, 2-87th Infantry Battalion out of Fort Drum.
This platoon has deployed to Afghanistan, and the legion is asking for donated items to send to the soldiers.
The items are being collected throughout December. They can be dropped off at any American Legion Post in Clinton County or at the Veterans Service Office in the Clinton County Government Center in Plattsburgh.
People who leave items are asked to include their name. If it is a group, organizers are encouraged to leave a photo.
Items sought include: baby wipes, magazines, disposable razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, pens, pencils, stationery, hard candy, peanuts, nonperishable canned goods (such as beef stew, chili, ravioli, Spaghetti-O’s, beef jerky, Vienna sausage), memory cards for digital cameras, playing cards and games (dominoes, chess, Uno, etc).

Churubusco Memory Tree lit ‘til 2014
CHURUBUSCO — The Churubusco Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary invites the public to remember a loved one by buying a bulb for its Christmas Memory Tree.
The tree will remain lit at the Fire Station until Jan. 1. Donations are $1 per bulb.
