Reception next Tuesday for NCCC president

MALONE — A reception for North Country Community College President Dr. Steven Tyrell will be held today in Malone to celebrate his pending inauguration.

The public is invited to the event, which is from 5 to 7 p.m. at Reshetkina Hall on the NCCC campus at 75 Williams St. in Malone.

The celebration will feature remarks from Hugh Hill, executive director of the Malone Chamber of Commerce; Mayor Todd LePine; and Andy McKee, coordinator of the Malone Tulloch campus.

Also, the evening includes the opening of “24,471 and counting …,” an art show of works by NCCC students, faculty and staff reflecting the number of days the college has been open and its future.

The inauguration is a State University of New York tradition held during a president’s first year, and the installation will be conducted by SUNY Chancellor Dr. Nancy Zimpher.

Tyrell was vice president for student affairs at Alfred State College before accepting the position at NCCC.
