---- — Roast-pork dinner today in Ticonderoga

TICONDEROGA — A public roast pork-loin dinner will be served from 4:30 to 6 p.m. today in the downstairs dining hall of the Ticonderoga Masonic Temple, 10 Montcalm St.

Take-outs will also be available. Tickets are $10 for adults, and $6 for children 12 years old and under.

Parking will be available along Montcalm Street and at the Thomas B. Azer Agency and Hancock House parking lots. The dinner is sponsored by the members of Mount Defiance Lodge No. 794, F. & A.M. and Fort Ticonderoga Chapter 263, Order of the Eastern Star.

Essex Community Church announces Holy Week schedule

ESSEX — Essex Community Church’s Holy Week schedule is:

Palm Sunday worship service with special music and the giving of palms, 10:15 a.m., March 24; Holy Thursday worship service with communion, 7 p.m. March 28; Easter sunrise service at Beggs Park with breakfast to follow at the church, 6:30 a.m. March 31; and Easter Sunday church worship service, 10:15 a.m. March 31, with Easter egg hunt and party at 10:30 a.m. as part of Sunday school for all children.

Episcopal Church plans Easter services

AuSABLE FORKS — St. James Episcopal Church’s Holy Week schedule is:

Movie night and refreshments in the Parish Hall on Main Street, featuring “The Passion of the Christ,” 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 27; Stripping of the Altar and Foot Washing, at 7 p.m. Maundy Thursday, March 28; Stations of the Cross, noon Good Friday, March 29; Tenebrae service at 7 p.m. March 29; and Festival Eucharist, 10 a.m. Easter Sunday, March 31.

All are welcome.

Ti church holding Holy Week events

TICONDEROGA — The First United Methodist Church’s Holy Week schedule is:

Palm Sunday services will feature the triumphant entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem followed by reflections through readings and a message, 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. March 24. Communion will be served at the 8:30 a.m. service, and the 10:30 a.m. service will feature special music and a children’s message. Traditional palms will be distributed at both services.

The Maundy Thursday service at 6 p.m. March 28 will focus on the events leading up to Christ’s trial and crucifixion, including the Last Supper. A simple, light supper will be offered following a communion service. All ages are invited; reservations are not necessary.

At 6 a.m. Easter Sunday, March 31, the joyous celebration of the Resurrection will be shared with an ecumenical sunrise service at Fort Ticonderoga. A traditional Easter service will also be held in the church sanctuary, 1045 Wicker St., at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Scott Tyler will deliver the message and special music will be presented by the Chancel and Bell choirs.

Lenton Musical Meditations planned

ELIZABETHTOWN — Lenton Musical Meditations will be held at the United Church of Christ, 7580 Court St., at 12:15 p.m. during Holy Week.

The service on Wednesday, March 27, will feature Mary Lu Kirsty at the organ. Maundy Thursday, March 28, will feature Susan Hughes, soprano, Gigi Mason, mezzo soprano; and Mary Lu Kirsty, piano. Good Friday, March 29, will feature Russell Ames on piano and Mary Lu Kirsty on organ.

Other services during Holy Week include: Maundy Thursday Communion Supper at 6 p.m. at the United Church of Christ; Good Friday service at 7:30 p.m. at the Lewis Congregational Church; Easter sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. at the Elizabethtown Golf Course; and Easter Sabbath services at 9:30 a.m. at the Lewis Congregational Church and at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Christ. The Rev. Fred Shaw will officiate all services.

Peru church announces Holy Week schedule

PERU — Peru Community Church’s Holy Week schedule is:

The Passion/Palm Sunday service at 10 a.m. (only one service) March 24 features “Lenten Sketches,” and the annual Palm Sunday brunch is in the Fellowship Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Seder Meal service is at 5:30 p.m. on Maundy Thursday, March 28, with the Tenebrae service at 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Center Chapel. The sunrise service is at 6 a.m. Easter Sunday, March 31, at St. Patrick’s Oratory, with regular services at 8 and 10:30 a.m.

MALONE — First Congregational Church’s Holy Week schedule includes:

The Palm Sunday worship service at 10 a.m. March 24; Tenebrae Service of Shadows at 6:30 p.m. Maundy Thursday, March 28; and special music, a children’s message and an Easter message from the Rev. Peter Bortz at 10 a.m. March 31.

Unitarian fellowship hosting ‘Hour of Renewal’

PLATTSBURGH — A program called “Spring Cleaning Your Inner Spirit: An Hour of Renewal” will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 4 Palmer St.

The event, which is open to the public, includes music, readings, candlelight, ceremonial washing of hands, quiet reflection and Fruit of the Earth communion.
