2013 grants announced

PLATTSBURGH — The North Country Cultural Center for the Arts has announced recipients of the 2013 Decentralization Grant Funding.

Community Arts Grants were awarded for 21 projects in organizations from Clinton, Essex and Franklin counties.

They include: Adirondack Wind Ensemble, Piano by Nature, Adirondack Youth Orchestra, Tahawus Lodge Center and Onstage, ROTA, Champlain Valley Voices, Foothills Art, Ballard Park Concert Series, Ticonderoga Museum, Ticonderoga Guild Arts, Town of Keene, Tara Mulvey Youth Theatre, Chateaugay Children’s Theatre, Ticonderoga Historical Society, Hobofest, Saranac Lake ArtWorks, Champlain Valley Film Society, Rouses Point Dodge Memorial Library and Whallonsburg Grange.

Arts Education Grants were awarded to seven teaching artists in all three counties. They are: Nadia Korths, Grace Potthast, Sheri Amsel, Elizabeth Lee, Amy Guglielmo, Bucky Seiden and Adrian Carr.

An Individual Artist Award was given to Helen Demong of Saranac Lake for her proposal of “Voices of Timbuctoo: An Abolition Oratorio.”

The Awards Ceremony will take place at the arts center on the evening of Friday, March 8.
