Rulfs Strawberry Festival June 29

PERU — Rulfs Orchard is celebrating strawberry season at the second-annual Rulfs Orchard Strawberry Festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m, Saturday, June 29.

The festival boasts all things strawberry from pies to smoothies. Entertainment includes music, a petting zoo, strawberry shortcake eating contest, wagon rides, kids games and face painting.

Also included is a strawberry rhubarb pie baking contest with youth and adult divisions. The contest will be judged by Amy Ivy, Cornell Cooperative Extension; Larry Ewald, Peru Central School; and Ian Ater, Fledging Crow CSA.

To enter a pie, bakers must use local, fresh ingredients and a disposable pie tin. Ready-made crusts are allowed. Pies with nuts must be clearly labeled. Pies can be dropped off by 1:30 p.m. at the pavilion.
