Essex County seedling sale underway

WESTPORT — The Essex County Soil and Water Conservation District in Westport is now holding its annual seedling sale.

There is still a variety of tree and shrub seedlings/transplants, groundcovers, wildflower seed mixes, fertilizer tablets and water gel available.

Orders can be picked up from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the Essex County Fairgrounds in Floral Hall, Westport.

Cornell Cooperative Extension plans Youth Gardening Workshop

PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton County Cornell Cooperative Extension is hosting a biweekly 4-H workshop that focuses on a variety of different topics geared toward youth.

In honor of Earth Day, the Cooperative Extension is hosting a gardening workshop from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 18, in which participants will be able to plant their own fruits, vegetables and flowers, and make decorative signs to label the different plants.

Please RSVP by Monday the week of each event. The cost is $5 per person; free for 4-H club members.

Future workshops include: April 25, Science (elephant toothpaste, oobleck and homemade ice-cream); May 9, Nutrition (food art and healthy summer snacks); May 23, Astronomy (make your own telescopes and sundials); and June 6, Flight (make your own pop rockets and more).
