Events to raise funds for mission organizations

PERU — A pulled-pork dinner and the seventh-annual Walk of Faith to raise funds for the North Country Mission of Hope and the Jamaica Project are planned on Sunday.

The dinner is from noon to 4 p.m. at St. Augustine’s Parish Center. The cost is $8, or $6 for Walk of Faith participants. Children 12 and under are $4 ($3 for walk participants). The menu includes pulled pork, corn on the cob, baked beans, salad, rolls, beverages and dessert.

The Walk of Faith is at Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine behind St. Augustine’s Church in Peru. The event is free, and the walk will happen, rain or shine. Donations will be accepted. Early registration begins at 11:45 a.m. The opening ceremony is at 12:30 p.m., and the walk will follow. The walk is a 2.7-mile route in the Town of Peru.

The fundraisers are being put on by the Catholic Community of St. Augustine’s and St. Patrick’s Parish, the Peru Community Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Monica 2598 and Knights of Columbus Council 7273. For more information, contact Christa Reyell at 566-6404.

Singers needed for ecumenical choir

MALONE — Singers are invited to participate in the 29th-annual Ecumenical Christmas Concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at St. Joseph’s Church.

Those interested in singing in the choir are invited to register at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the church. A minimum of eight rehearsals will be held there from 6 to 7:30 p.m. through December. The rehearsal schedule is: Oct. 15, 24 and 29; Nov. 7, 14, 21 and 27; and Dec. 3.

All proceeds from the concert will remain in the North Country to benefit the patients and families served by Hospice of the North Country. For more information, call Cathlyn Lamitie at 483-3200.
