American Red Cross offering babysitting training

MORRISONVILLE —The American Red Cross of the Northeastern New York Region is holding a daylong babysitters’ training course for youth ages 11 to 15 years.

The second-annual event is from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, at the North Country Chapter Office, 26 Emory St., Morrisonville.

Young people will learn how to care for infants and children, handle emergencies such as injuries and accidents, stay safe, recognize safety and hygiene issues, and communicate with parents. It also teaches lifelong entrepreneurial and career-development skills.

The course provides students with materials that are useful both in class and when they start babysitting, including a compact emergency-reference guide; an interactive CD-ROM featuring an activity booklet with games, songs, recipes and other activities; an electronic babysitting-client organizer; and more.

To register for the course and pay online, visit www.redcross.org.
