Workshop reveals ways to searchfor ancestors

PLATTSBURGH — The Saranac Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will hold a genealogy workshop to help people learn how to search for their ancestors at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5.

A trained volunteer genealogist will answer questions, do website lookups and help people search for that elusive famous ancestor at the DAR Chapter House, on the corner of 53 Cornelia and Oak streets.

The event is free and open to the public. For questions, call 643-0194.

Basketball team hosting Oct. 5Kids’ Nite Out

PLATTSBURGH — The SUNY Plattsburgh women’s basketball team will host Kids’ Nite Out for children ages 5 through 13 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Memorial Hall on campus.

There will be sports, games, swimming, arts and crafts, and movies.

A parent or guardian must be present at registration, which will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The cost is $10 per child, with a special family rate of $7 for each additional child.
