PLATTSBURGH — A Dining for a Cause event set for 4 to 8 p.m. today at Texas Roadhouse on Cornelia Street will benefit the American Heart Association.
With the presentation of fliers for the event at the time of ordering, 10 percent of the customer’s dining bill (before tax and tip) will go to the Heart Association.
Fliers are available at Jim’s Sports at Champlain Centre mall and at Valley Vending on South Catherine Street, both in Plattsburgh.
Plattsburgh’s Biggest Loser application deadline nears
PLATTSBURGH — The deadline to apply for the City of Plattsburgh Recreation Department’s fifth season of the North Country’s Biggest Loser adult fitness program is Sunday; the program starts on Oct. 5.
It aims to help participants, who work with personal trainers, make lifestyle changes to help them lead active, healthy lives.
The program will consist of weight training, circuit training and cardio workouts with trainers and coaches, combined with nutrition education from SUNY Plattsburgh nutrition students and the Clinton County Health Department for a period of six months.
Training sessions will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Attendance is required as well as a commitment to work out independently. Candidates will be chosen through an application process and will require a physician’s release. Memberships for all are free but $125 fee is required for the expense of the personal trainers.

SARANAC LAKE — The Living Healthy Workshop, a six-session program for people with an ongoing health condition like diabetes, heart disease, asthma and arthritis, is accepting participants.
The classes run from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays starting Oct. 8 in the Franklin County Public Health Conference Room at the Saranac Lake Adult Center. Space is limited; registration deadline is Sept. 25. Call 891-4295.
