Champlain History Club now forming

CHAMPLAIN — After a series of informal gatherings at Champlain Free Library, a group of local citizens has decided to meet monthly for discussions on items of historical interest.

The group was first invited by librarian Alison Mandeville to meet at the library. From there, the weekly gatherings grew in size and enthusiasm.

The first meeting of the Champlain History Club is at 7 p.m. today at the library on Elm Street.

The topic of discussion will be the Ski Factory that once operated in the Village of Champlain. Bruce Labelle, whose late father once managed the facility, will be on hand with photos and memorabilia.

Participants are encouraged to bring along items as well.

The group will meet monthly and is open to all. There is no charge for membership, and light refreshments will be served.

For more information, contact Mark L. Barie at 297-7741, Christine Racine at 297-3345 or Alison Mandeville at 298-8620.
