---- — Healing Prayer Level I training course offered

ELLENBURG CENTER — Christian Healing Ministries School of Healing Prayer Level I training course will be offered from Thursday, April 25, to Sunday, April 27, at Our Lady of the Adirondacks, 7270 Star Road.

The course provides a foundational, practical approach to developing a prayer ministry and offers a scriptural basis for God’s gift of healing prayer. It teaches the student how to be an effective prayer minister through the use of video presentations by Francis and Judith MacNutt, as well as through discussion and prayer over each other in groups.

Registration and fees are due by Monday, April 15. The course is limited to six.

Temple Beth Israel hosting pianist

PLATTSBURGH — Temple Beth Israel will feature a special guest pianist at its Shabbat service at 7:30 tonight.

Karen Becker will assist Rabbi Kari Tuling in leading the congregation in singing new tunes.

As well, Temple Beth Israel will have daytime Shabbat services on Saturday, April 20. the Torah Text study begins at 9 a.m., with the main service at 10.

All are welcome.

Healing Mass celebrated April 17

ELLENBURG CENTER — A Healing Mass will be celebrated at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at Our Lady of the Adirondacks House of Prayer, 7270 Star Road.

The Rev. Doug Decker will preside at Mass and Anointing, followed by individual prayer by prayer ministers.

Spring brunch planned for Sunday

ALTONA — Holy Angels Church, 523 Devils Den Road, is hosting an all-you-can-eat spring brunch from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, April 14.

The menu includes baked Virginia ham, breakfast sausage, baked eggs, scrambled eggs, golden-brown home fries, regular and blueberry pancakes, French toast, biscuits with sausage and gravy, homemade muffins, fresh fruit salad and beverages. The cost is $7 for adults, and $3 for children under age 12.

The event also features a bake sale and a craft sale. Those interested in reserving a craft table should call 236-5848.

Church hosting ‘The Power of Manifestation’ retreat April 27

SARANAC LAKE — The First Presbyterian Church at 57 Church St. will be hosting a retreat called “The Power of Manifestation II” from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27, in the Great Hall.

Kathleen McPhillips will return to the Adirondacks to share the power of manifestation in her own life. The retreat aims to help attendees rediscover their dreams and give them the practical tools to manifest and create the best life.

McPhillips is the author of “Adirondack Retreat: My Midlife Journey to Wholeness,” the record of her personal journey while retreating to a cabin in Tupper Lake after a life of physical, personal and emotional challenges.Yoga teacher, Reiki master and spiritual advisor, she also presents meditation, midlife, aging and spirituality workshops and retreats in the Adirondacks and the Hudson Valley. A breast-cancer survivor, she is a retreat team member for Creative Healing Connections.

The program includes a soft/easy yoga class that anyone can do. Participants are asked to wear comfortable clothes, and bring a journal, pen, yoga mat and meditation cushion. Refreshments will be served.

Attendance to a prior retreat is not a requirement. The cost is $50 with pre-registration and pre-payment, or $60 at the door. Due to maximum capacity at previous retreats, pre-registration is recommended. Payment is refundable up to seven days before the event.
