Chazy Story Time to celebrate spring

CHAZY — “A Celebration of Spring” will be the theme at the Chazy Public Library’s next Story Time at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 5.

“A Celebration of Spring” will feature Chelsea Compeau, with stories and activities about spring, a time of planting and growing.

The program is for children ages 3 to 8.

Program focuses on keeping kids safe

PLATTSBURGH — “Keeping Them Safe: Drugs, Bullies & Social Media” will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 3, in Room 226 at Plattsburgh High School.

Featuring presentations by the Plattsburgh City Police, the New York State Police and Behavioral Health Services North, the free evening of education and conversation will include the latest news about drug and alcohol trends and bullying in relation to Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and more.

The program is for all parents, community members and teens/preteens. Child care for children ages 4 to 8 will be provided.

Battle of Plattsburgh Committee announces poster contest details

PLATTSBURGH — The Battle of Plattsburgh Committee is again encouraging fourth-grade students (including those in private, public and home-schooled) to submit one poster to their art, history or homeroom teacher for its 17th annual Poster Contest.

The poster must be in color and no larger than 12 by 18 inches. Judges will look for creativity and focus on key incidents of the land and/or naval battle, a press release states.

The winning poster will appear on all admission buttons for the September 2014 Bicentennial Commemoration. The first prize winner will receive $100, second place $75 and third place $50.

Submissions are to be returned to the North Country Teacher Resource Center by April 30.
