Winter Carnival buttons offered on eBay auction

SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Committee has listed a full set of Garry Trudeau-designed Winter Carnival buttons on the eBay auction website to raise money for the annual event.

The collectible set includes all buttons from 1981 to 2014, plus a bonus button from 1980 that Trudeau did not design. The award-winning author of the “Doonesbury” cartoon, Trudeau grew up in Saranac Lake.

The starting bid for this set is $750. The sale includes a signed certificate from Trudeau on Doonesbury letterhead (dated Jan. 20, 2013) that states: “With appreciation for your support of the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival.” Most of the set is in excellent condition; however, there are a few stains on the 1983 button, which is the rarest of all the buttons.

The listing can be viewed online at http://www.ebay.com/ and is titled “Saranac Lake Winter Carnival full Garry Trudeau button set.” This auction ends on Jan. 17. The direct link is http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem& item=221351939328.

All proceeds go to the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Committee.
