Town offering kayak trip, tour June 18

PLATTSBURGH — The Town of Plattsburgh Parks and Recreation Department will be offering a free kayak trip and tour of Crab Island to active adults and seniors who reside in the town.

Kayakers will leave the Cliff Haven Beach at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, and paddle to Crab Island. The trip will include a short hike on the island with Roger Harwood. Kayakers will return by noon.

All participants must preregister at the Recreation Department at 151 Banker Road or call 562-6860. Prior kayaking experience is necessary. Space is limited.

Free help for veterans available

PLATTSBURGH — The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Mobile Service Office will provide counseling and claim-filing assistance at the following times and locations:

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, June 24, Malone VA Outpatient Clinic, 3372 Route 11, Main Street, Malone; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, Plattsburgh Outpatient Clinic, 80 Sharron Ave., Plattsburgh; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6196, 32 Luzerne Road, Queensbury.

Help from the Mobile Service Office is free to all veterans and members of their families. For more information, contact William Gibney at 626-5690.
