Educational program about renal disease planned

PLATTSBURGH — The H.K. Freedman Renal Center staff is offering a two-part educational program to those with renal disease and their loved ones.

“Kidney Basics and Treatments” is at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 19. “Nutrition and Adjustment” is planned for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 26. Both programs are free and are held in the CVPH Health Plaza center.

Alzheimer’s Walk, run set for Saturday

SARANAC LAKE — The Alzheimer’s Walk and 5K Cross-Country Fun Run 2013 is set for Saturday, June 15, at Saranac Lake High School.

The recreational walk/run sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Disease Assistance Center raises awareness and funds for the Third Age Adult Day Center. The proceeds remain in the community to support programs and services.

Registration starts at 10 a.m.; the walk/run starts at 10:30 a.m. Participants may register as an individual or team. Any individual raising $500 or more will be entered to win a grand prize. Every $500 raised means another chance to win.

There will be refreshments, prizes and a DJ. For the Fun Run, costumes are admired but not required.

PLATTSBURGH — The North Country Regional Blood Center is partnering with many businesses and organizations to hold numerous blood drives this month.
