NACS School Board to hold budget session Feb. 10

ELLENBURG – The Northern Adirondack School Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at the District Office conference room for a public budget session.

An executive session associated with the performance history of particular employees and collective negotiations will take place at about 6:30 p.m. The board will reconvene for public session at about 7 p.m.

The board will recognize Colleen Anstett for being awarded the Arts in Education Mosaic Project for the 2014 school year.

The board will also review the Elementary Response to Intervention Plan and discuss the veterans tax exemption.

PHS choir wins contest, will perform with Foreigner

PLATTSBURGH — Plattsburgh High School’s Select Vocal Choir will sing with classic rock band Foreigner on Sunday, Feb. 16, at the Flynn in Burlington.

The choir won the opportunity in an online contest by radio station 106.7 WIZN, submitting a self-made YouTube video of a performance, earning 4,531 votes from viewers over eight days.

Also competing were groups from Willsboro Central School and two Vermont schools.

Along with performing with Foreigner at the sold-out show, the PHS choir wins a $500 donation from the band to their choral program.

“The kids are super, super excited,” Choral Director William Verity said in a press release.

The choir will sing backup on Foreigner’s biggest hit of the 1980s, “I Want To Know What Love Is.”

The concert is part of WIZN’s 30th-birthday celebration; the station reaches Vermonters and northern New York.

Peru Central School Board to discuss new website

PERU — The Peru Central School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the School District’s Community Room, near the main entrance of Peru Junior/Senior High School.
