Chateaugay School Board meeting coming up

CHATEAUGAY — Chateaugay Central School Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at the school.

Agenda items include a scholarship in memory of Robert and Joanne Legacy, budget development and policy updates and additions. A review of elementary principal applications will take place in executive session.

Board meetings are open to the public.


Board to hear budget forecast

SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Petrova Library.

Agenda items include a preliminary budget forecast by Dan Bower, a review of Survey Monkey results, update from the Capital Improvement Plan Committee and discussion of a possible veterans tax exemption.

The meeting is open to the public.


Tax-exemption deadline nears

PLATTSBURGH — New York State Real Property Tax Exemption renewals and new applications must be completed and filed with municipality assessors by March 1.

Real-property exemptions that may require a renewal application every year include senior citizen 50 percent (66 years old or older), non-profit, limited income and disability and agricultural land.

Enhanced STAR (65 years or older) may require a renewal if owners do not file an income tax and are not signed up with the Income Verification Program. 

New this year, owners must register for Basic STAR by telephone at 457-2036 or online

Veterans exemptions and some others do not require a yearly renewal once applied for, unless there is a change.

Willsboro sets public hearing

WILLSBORO — The Willsboro Central School Board will hold a public hearing on the alternative veterans exemption at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11 in the school auditorium.

The regular board meeting will follow, with agenda items including a budget discussion and business and finance. 

All meetings are open to the public.
