Mental Health Association announces grant program for award

WESTPORT — The Mental Health Association in Essex County was recently awarded a $1,500 grant from the Evergreen Fund at the Adirondack Community Trust.

According to Executive Director Valerie Ainsworth, the grant will be used for the annual support of the agency.

Anyone interested in obtaining information about receiving services, discussing career opportunities or would like to provide volunteer skills is urged to contact MHA at 962-2077 or 800-440-8074.

Healthy Neighborhoods to conduct surveys

PLATTSBURGH — The Healthy Neighborhoods program of the Clinton County Health Department will be conducting health and safety surveys throughout the Town of Plattsburgh during January, February and March.

The brief in-home surveys are designed to identify health and safety concerns, a press release states.

Materials and safety products may be provided to program-eligible families.

Dementia care training seminar planned for Jan. 14

PLATTSBURGH — Meadowbrook Healthcare will sponsor a dementia care training seminar from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, in the Adirondack Room of the Butcher Block.

The seminar will be conducted by Naomi Feil, developer of validation therapy.

Registration costs $50 per person. Check-in begins at 8 a.m. the day of the event.

There will be a continental breakfast, followed by a morning session (9 a.m. to noon), lunch (noon to 1 p.m.), afternoon session (1 to 4 p.m.), and cookies and beverages (2:30 p.m.)
