ORDA Board meeting postponed due to storm

LAKE PLACID — Due to the anticipated inclement weather, the New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority Board meeting scheduled for 11 a.m. today has been postponed to Tuesday, March 26, at the same time.

ORDA Board meetings are open to the public.

Saranac Lake School Board meets Wednesday

SARANAC LAKE — Saranac Lake Central School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Petrova School library.

Agenda items include student placements, board policies, notification of tenure and a number of reports.

The meeting is open to the public.

One seat open on NACS School Board

ELLENBURG — The Northern Adirondack Central School District has one School Board seat for the 2013-14 school year.

The term is for five years; the seat is currently held by Michael Carter.

Candidates who would like to seek that position must be: a qualified voter of the district, a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old and a resident of the district for at least one year before the election. Also, board members may not reside with a family member who is presently on the School Board, and they can’t be an employee of the school.

People who want to be considered as candidates for this term must submit a petition to District Clerk Helen Yelle signed by at least 25 qualified voters of the district. The petition must describe the specific vacancy for which the candidate is nominated, including the length of term of office and the name of the last incumbent.

Petitions may be submitted 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the District Office, 5572 Route 11,Ellenburg Depot.

The deadline is 5 p.m. Monday, April 22, when the office will stay open to accept final submissions.
