Quilt winners announced
PLATTSBURGH — Here are the winners of the Champlain Valley Quilters' Guild of New York 2009 Quilt Show.

Guest judge Bernie Bassett chose "Rites of Fall" by Kathy Baier; judge Gib Brown picked "Determination" by Nan Mitchell; Peggy Canning tagged "Christmas Cardinals" by Jean Welch; Lillian Cassidy selected "Spring Garden" by Sylvia Brown; Donna Caughlin chose "Topsy Turvy" by Priscilla Reed; Ellie Collins picked "Irresistible Irish" by Dora Bushey; Donna DiOrio selected "Star Bright" by Sylvia Brown; Diane Fine chose "Ocean Waves" by Jo Ann Forkey; Suzanne Moore picked "Big Blue" by Niki Gemmill; the Silver Sisters chose "Crazy Quilt with Modern Twist" by Sandy Thornton; Charlie Stone selected "Take the Long Way Home" by Lorene Forttrell; David Stanley picked "Mighty Manatee" by Jean Welch; Paula Trahan chose "Enough Weddings!" by Annette Thorton; Mark White picked "Expressions of Morris" by Pam Schafer; and Gerianne Wright selected "Rolling Stars" by Jean Welch.

Vendors ribbons were awarded as follows:

Adirondack Quilts chose "Oak Leaves" by Sandra Zmyewski; Country Quilt & Fabric selected "We Counted Each Day" by Katherine Gimlick; Dreamcrafters picked "Flower Power" by Pat Flath; and Patti's Quilting & Fabrics chose "Rites of Fall" by Kathy Baier.

For Viewers Choice, first place went to "Expressions Of Morris" by Pam Schafer; Schafer's "Rose Sampler Supreme" took second place; and third place went to "Modern Baltimore Album" by Thornton.

In the Wall Hangings division, first place went to "Calming Kaleidoscopes" by Kerry Mero; placing second was "We Counted Each Day" by Katherine Gimlick; and third place winner was "Circle of Life" by Cathie Davenport.

Small Quilts winners were "Alaska Salmon" by Debbie Michelucci with first place, "Happy Villages" by Priscilla Reed with second; and a tie for third place went to "Moose Crossing" by Linda Harwood and "Cathedral Window" by Barbara O'Neill.

The Other category saw a tie between Nancy Dayton's "Lime Green Sweatshirt Jacket" and "Geranium Beauty" by Harwood.

Third place went to "Mermaid Jacket" by Schafer.

The Challenge award was given to "Take the Long Way Home" by Forttrell. And Mary Geer of Plattsburgh won the "Orion Star" quilt raffled off to benefit Child Care Coordinating Council of the North Country.
