Homebuyer Workshop set for Wednesday

SARANAC LAKE -- The Adirondack Community Housing Trust will sponsor a Homebuyer Workshop and Credit Counseling.

For those interested in purchasing a home in the Adirondack Park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Lake Flower Apartments community room, 14 Kiwassa Road, Saranac Lake.

To take part in home buyer assistance programs, participants must successfully complete this six-hour course, which is open to anyone and covers the home buying process. Upon completion, participants will schedule a two-hour, one-on-one session with the educator to review the prospective buyer's credit report for accuracy. This includes guidance on how to improve a credit score and a process to clear errors from a personal credit record.

Both the workshop and the one-on-one session must be completed to obtain a certificate, which, even without application for the housing programs, may afford other opportunities such as a lower interest rate from lenders. Cost is $25 per family and includes a light lunch.

To register, call Emily by Tuesday at 873-6888.

Festival to include pie-baking contest

MORRISONVILLE -- Harvestfest, a family event sponsored by the North Country Cultural Center of the Arts and Advocacy and Resource Center, takes place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 11 and 12 at Clinton County Fairgrounds in Morrisonville.

Cost is $5 per car. For more information, call 563-1604 or 834-5439.
